Description
A hired killer (Tim Roth) returns to Brighton Beach — where his family still lives — to carry out a contract, leading to a confrontation with his embittered father and his younger brother. James Gray's remarkable debut feature is a cold, elegiac crime film — shaped by the émigré Russian-Jewish community of Brooklyn, by Dostoyevsky, and by the classical Hollywood tradition of doomed men.
