Lost in America - The Criterion Collection (Blu-ray)

Albert Brooks co-wrote, directed and stars in this razor-sharp satire of Reagan-era ambition. Fed up after being passed over for a promotion, a Los Angeles ad executive convinces his wife (Julie Hagerty) to cash out, buy a Winnebago and hit the open road in search of the Easy Rider freedom they never had.

One disastrous stop in Las Vegas later, the couple is forced to reckon with just how far their nest egg, and their ideals, will really take them. A cornerstone of Brooks's comedies about anxious people chasing contentment, Lost in America remains one of the most influential American comedies of the 1980s.
