Description
In 1997, following the death of his brother DJ Subroc and the shelving of KMD’s Black Bastards, Daniel Dumile reemerged as MF Doom. He released his solo debut, Operation: Doomsday, in 1999 on Fondle 'Em Records, earning a cult following. After Fondle 'Em closed in 2001, Doom briefly disappeared, living between Long Island and Kennesaw, Georgia. During this time, Stones Throw Records’ Eothen "Egon" Alapatt sent Doom instrumentals from Madlib. Doom was immediately interested, leading to his first meeting with Madlib in Los Angeles—an encounter that would eventually spark their iconic collaboration.
