Description
The LP is a journey into Charif’s “Lebrary,” a vision of Lebanon and the Mediterranean expressed through library music's prismatic sonics. Influenced by artists like Ziad Rahbani, Ahmed Malek, and Issam Hajali, Charif crafts an LP that feels contemporary in 2023.
Following his 2022 EP Tayara Warak, Marzipan explores Charif Megarbane’s musical breadth across 17 tracks. As a composer and producer, Megarbane showcases versatile, sometimes volatile musicianship, with a catalog exceeding 100 projects, including the Cosmic Analog Ensemble and the Free Association Syndicate. This collection was initially developed within his collaborative platform, Hisstology, and now represents Megarbane's solo work under Habibi Funk.
Megarbane captures the chaotic energy of crowded Beirut in “Souk El Ahad,” the warmth of the Lebanese countryside in “Chez Mounir,” and the lushness of a Mediterranean beach resort in “Portemilio.” His instrumentation reflects the sounds of his environment, offering a unique insight into how musical experiences translate visual elements into sound.
