Description
Two lovers (Richard Gere and Brooke Adams) flee Chicago for the Texas Panhandle, where they pose as siblings while plotting to inherit a dying wheat farmer's (Sam Shepard) land and fortune. Terrence Malick's second film, photographed almost entirely during magic hour by Néstor Almendros and Haskell Wexler, is one of the most visually beautiful films ever made — a breathtaking meditation on longing, deception, and the American landscape. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Cinematography.
