Description
For McCoy is a work by Eiko Ishibashi, dedicated to the character Jack McCoy from Law & Order, portrayed by Sam Waterston. Expanding on her previous album Hyakki Yagyō, Ishibashi blends musique concrète, ECM-inspired jazz, synth layers, and pop elements. The centerpiece, "I Can Feel Guilty About Anything," spans over 30 minutes, weaving through dreamlike transitions with layered flute lines, field recordings, and saxophone by Daisuke Fujiwara. The album closes with "Ask Me How I Sleep at Night," featuring Jim O’Rourke on double bass and Tatsuhisa Yamamoto on drums, channeling Keith Jarrett-like melodies and harmonies reminiscent of Kenny Wheeler. Mixed by O'Rourke and accompanied by Ishibashi's artwork of McCoy, For McCoy is a deeply immersive experience.
