Description
In early 2024, the mysterious 1983 private press record L’Amour by Lewis was re-released. Long considered the sole release from one of music's most elusive figures, Lewis (believed to be Randall A. Wulff), became a subject of fascination due to the lack of concrete information surrounding him. Stories circulated about a Canadian man with a taste for sports cars, models, and disappearing acts, leaving little behind but his music.
Despite attempts to track him down, Lewis remained untraceable, and few verified details about his life surfaced. Nevertheless, the reissue of L’Amour was pursued due to its fragile, haunting quality, with the label offering royalties to anyone who could prove they were Lewis.
Following the re-release, another album emerged: Romantic Times, originally released in 1985 under the name Lewis Baloue. While the name differed, both the album's cover—featuring a blonde figure resembling Lewis—and its musical style, with wistful synths and melancholic vocals, strongly suggest it is the same artist. The use of different aliases, such as Randall A. Wulff and Lewis Baloue, further complicates his identity, and whether these are pseudonyms or represent his real name remains unresolved.
