Dr. Peyton Westlake (Liam Neeson) is a scientist working on synthetic skin for burn victims. When gangsters blow up his lab, he’s horribly disfigured and presumed dead. He survives, but his face is destroyed, and his experimental skin has a fatal flaw: it disintegrates after 99 minutes when exposed to light. Wracked with vengeance and pain, he takes on the identity of Darkman, hides behind masks, and embarks on a dangerous quest to confront those who ruined him, while trying to reconnect with his former love, Julie (Frances McDormand).
