Description
In a 1970s Michigan suburb, five beautiful teenage sisters — kept under increasingly strict parental control following a tragedy — are observed with helpless longing by a group of neighborhood boys who will spend the rest of their lives trying to understand what happened. Sofia Coppola's debut feature is an entrancing, perfectly calibrated film about adolescence, male projection, and the unknowability of other lives.
