Description
Sweetheart of the Rodeo is the sixth studio album by American rock band The Byrds, released in August 1968 on Columbia Records. Featuring the addition of country rock pioneer Gram Parsons, it is widely recognized as the first true country rock album and a seminal release in progressive country. This album marked a significant departure from the psychedelic rock of their previous LP, The Notorious Byrd Brothers. Although The Byrds had explored country music in their earlier work, Sweetheart of the Rodeo represented their most complete embrace of the genre up to that point.
With tracks like "You Don't Miss Your Water," it’s a real gem of a record that deserves a spot on everyone's sad waltz playlist.
