Description
The legendary musical outfit The Ibex Band, later metamorphosed into The Roha Band, played a central role in defining the sound of Ethiopian music from the mid-seventies onwards — backing the greatest stars including Aster Aweke, Girma Beyene, and Tilahun Gessesse, supporting the solo career of Mahmoud Ahmed, and backing Mulatu Astatke and many others. This release challenges the notion of a "golden age" of Ethiopian music as something only a foreigner can appreciate, highlighting the constantly evolving and living tradition of Ethiopia's rich musical culture.
