Description
Spirit of Eden is the fourth studio album by English band Talk Talk, released in 1988 by Parlophone Records. Created through a lengthy recording process at London's Wessex Studios between 1987 and 1988, the album features songs written by singer Mark Hollis and producer Tim Friese-Greene. The band recorded hours of improvised performances in near darkness, blending jazz, ambient, classical music, blues, and dub elements. These recordings were then meticulously edited and rearranged into a mostly digital format, resulting in a radical shift from Talk Talk's earlier synthpop sound. The album is often credited with pioneering the post-rock genre.
