Description
Three possible futures branch from a single moment: a young medical student named Witek races for a train in Łódź. In one version he catches it and joins the Communist Party. In another he misses it and joins the opposition. In the third he misses it entirely and returns to private life. Krzysztof Kieślowski's Blind Chance, completed in 1981 but suppressed by Polish censors until 1987, is the direct precursor to The Double Life of Véronique and the Three Colours trilogy — a rigorous, affecting investigation of fate, politics, and the randomness of a life.
