Description
A prominent psychiatrist (Lindsay Crouse) becomes drawn into the twilight world of a small-time con artist (Joe Mantegna) while researching a book on gambling psychology — and finds herself becoming a willing mark. David Mamet's directorial debut is a cool, perfectly calibrated puzzle film that uses the mechanics of the con as a metaphor for power, desire, and the stories we tell ourselves.
