Description
Recorded in Hollywood in 1956 for Pacific Jazz, drummer Lawrence Marable's sole album as leader is a gem of West Coast hard bop, featuring a young Sonny Clark at the piano and Harold Land on tenor. The Blue Note Tone Poet Series — overseen by producer Joe Harley and mastered by Kevin Gray — presents it in mono at its absolute sonic best for the first time in decades. A rare document of an undervalued corner of the jazz canon, now properly available.
