Description
Caden Cotard (Philip Seymour Hoffman), a theatre director in Schenectady, New York, receives a MacArthur grant and decides to mount an enormous, life-consuming theatrical work inside a vast warehouse in Manhattan, a replica of the city in which actors play out versions of his own life, forever expanding. Charlie Kaufman's directorial debut is a singular, bewildering, deeply felt meditation on mortality, art, and the impossibility of self-knowledge.
