Description
Ming Ding (Charles Jang), an undocumented Chinese immigrant in New York, owes a substantial debt to the snakehead who smuggled him into the country. He has one day to raise it — working a delivery shift for a Manhattan Chinese restaurant. Sean Baker and Shih-Ching Tsou's low-budget debut feature, shot on miniDV over two weeks, is a model of empathetic, precise filmmaking: a film about immigrant labor, precarity, and the invisible workers who sustain the city, rendered with documentary immediacy and genuine compassion.
