Description
Harry Caul (Gene Hackman) is a paranoid, obsessively private surveillance expert who is haunted by the possible consequences of a recording he has made of a couple's conversation in a San Francisco park. Francis Ford Coppola's masterpiece — shot during the Watergate hearings and winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes 1974 — remains one of American cinema's essential studies of privacy, guilt, technology, and the limits of human knowledge. Walter Murch's sound design is among the greatest in cinema history.
