Description
Jean-Dominique Bauby (Mathieu Amalric), editor-in-chief of French Elle, suffers a massive stroke at 43 and wakes with locked-in syndrome, his mind fully intact, his body entirely paralysed save for one eyelid. Using only that eyelid to blink, he dictates an entire memoir. Julian Schnabel's extraordinary film, shot largely from behind Bauby's eye, won Best Director at Cannes and the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.
