Description
Three interlocking stories of the American drug trade: a newly appointed drug czar (Michael Douglas) whose daughter is a heroin addict; a DEA informant's wife (Catherine Zeta-Jones) who takes over her husband's cartel operations; and two Tijuana cops (Benicio del Toro, Jacob Vargas) caught between competing criminal and government powers. Steven Soderbergh's Oscar-winning adaptation of the British miniseries Traffik uses distinct visual styles (desaturated yellow for Mexico, overexposed blue for Washington) to build a panoramic portrait of a system in which no individual — however powerful — can prevail against structural forces.
