Description
When his partner Ruth (Rooney Mara) shoots a lawman to protect him, outlaw Bob Muldoon (Casey Affleck) takes the blame and goes to prison. Years later, consumed by love and longing, he escapes and begins the long walk back across the Texas hill country to find her.
David Lowery’s achingly beautiful debut feature — photographed in warm, sun-hazed anamorphic by Bradford Young — channels the fugitive romanticism of Terrence Malick and Robert Altman into something unmistakably its own: a modern American myth about devotion, guilt, and the past that never lets go. Winner of the FIPRESCI Prize at Sundance.
