Description

Zorg (Jean-Hugues Anglade) is a handyman coasting through life in a beachfront bungalow colony on the French Riviera when Betty (Béatrice Dalle) arrives — ferociously alive, impulsive, and beautiful in the way that portends catastrophe. She moves in, burns the bungalows down, and discovers the novel Zorg has been secretly writing. What follows is one of the great love stories of French cinema: tender, ecstatic, and inexorably moving toward ruin.

Jean-Jacques Beineix's Betty Blue introduced Béatrice Dalle to the world in a star-making performance of raw, almost frightening intensity. Nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, the film was a worldwide sensation in 1986 and has only grown in stature since. The Criterion Collection presents both the original theatrical cut and Beineix's definitive three-hour director's cut on a single two-disc Blu-ray edition.
