Description
In a sweltering West African backwater, a corrupt and casually brutal police officer (Philippe Noiret) decides to start eliminating the town's lowlifes — and finds that murder agrees with him. Bertrand Tavernier's adaptation of Jim Thompson's novel Pop. 1280 is a scorching, darkly hilarious colonial noir and one of the great overlooked films of the French cinema.
