Description
I Wanna Run Barefoot Through Your Hair is Christopher Owens' first solo album in over nine years. It follows a tumultuous period marked by a motorbike crash, separation from his fiancée, homelessness, and the death of his Girls bandmate, Chet "JR" White. Owens' previous album, Chrissybaby Forever (2015), fulfilled his three-album contract with his label, which then dropped him. Efforts to secure new opportunities were unsuccessful, leading him to fear his music career was over. During this time, Owens suffered severe injuries in a crash on his 1982 Honda MB5, lost his long-term partner, and was fired from a coffee shop job. Unable to afford medical care or rent, he spent a month unable to walk and eventually lived in his car. A turning point came in 2017 when he organized a gig in Hong Kong, where he wrote the album’s opening track, “No Good.”
