Description
Two masterworks by Yasujiro Ozu on a single release: A Story of Floating Weeds (1934), the silent original in which a traveling kabuki troupe's leader revisits the small town where he fathered an illegitimate son; and Floating Weeds (1959), Ozu's own color remake — made 25 years later with a new cast and the full resources of his mature style. Together they form a unique document of a filmmaker in conversation with himself across decades: the same story told twice, differently, revealing how time, color, and sound transform the fundamental materials of cinema.
