Description
A thief bearing a resemblance to Christ wanders a city of grotesque excess until he encounters the Alchemist (Jodorowsky), who strips him of his ego and recruits him to join eight industrialists — each representing a planet — on a pilgrimage to the Holy Mountain, where the immortal gods of the cosmos reside and may be overthrown.
Produced by Allen Klein and conceived during Jodorowsky's study of alchemy, tarot, and Zen Buddhism, The Holy Mountain remains one of the most ambitious, expensive, and genuinely visionary films ever made outside the studio system. Its final scene — a rupture of the fourth wall that redefines everything that came before — has never been equalled. Restored and presented on Blu-ray by ABKCO, supervised by Jodorowsky.
